Brew Guide: Amazingly easy cold brew coffee

You might think that making cold brew coffee is a difficult and time consuming process. I did too, until we started making it and I realized it’s about as easy a peeling a banana. For real. In fact, it’s much easier than attempting to make a cappuccino in the morning AND your cold brew will…

golf gps golf gps reviews electronics best golf - I had been wondering if your web host is OK? Not that I am complaining, but slow loading instances times will very frequently affect your placement in google and could damage your high quality score if ads and marketing with Adwords.

Trish - We made this last weekend SO good & SO easy! Thanks for adding delicious cold brew caffeine to our lives :)

Sakin - I love this post. I will try this in a few days;).

Jason Grube - Oh man, another way to geek out over coffee! I love these posts.

Dawn - Yes! I love my cold brew coffee! (iced coffee with it is incredibly so much better than when coffee is made hot, then poured over ice … in my humble opinion ;) ) Thx for sharing! :)

Brew Guide: Burundi Bush Brew

This coffee brewing method is rustic. It’s so simple that even if you don’t own any fancy coffee brewing equipment, you probably have everything you need to get started right now… as long as you have coffee. The first time I ever had a cup of Burundi coffee I was IN the bush of Burundi…

longmilescoffee - thanks Glen! let us know what you think of the AeroPress method once you’ve tried it!

Glenn Harpur - Beautiful photography and really touching writing, Kristy.

Ben, love your Aeropress method – going to have to give it a go.

Brew Guide: AeroPress

Not an espresso, not a filter coffee.  The AeroPress is a hybrid coffee making method.  You will be left with a cup of coffee full of complex flavor and bursting with aroma.  Using espresso-like extraction, instead of brewing the ground coffee, gives your palate a similar experience to having an espresso. 1. Get your grind…

javaverses - I use an AeroPress, but use an inverted method. It allows me to let the brew steep for about a minute without it dripping into the cup. I think it gives it a stronger richer flavor.

longmilescoffee - It is a reallllly cool method, and fairly inexpensive, and very portable. Win, win, and win!

bernadette - we use a french press now….but this method is worth try! thanks for the info!

Brew Guide: French Press

Before we begin this full immersion French press course, you need to know a few facts. This is serious business folks, if you get it wrong Coffee Guy is bound to come to your house and whack you across the wrists with his fancy silver cupping spoon. As you can see, the Carlson house never…

longmilescoffee - And Danielle… his phone is on its very very last leg. brought out of retirement because his other phone stopped working! tough phone days around here!

longmilescoffee - Mary, we think so. Drip coffee machines boil the water as they send it through the coffee… which burns it. Also, they are too quick, usually have a 2 min brew time, so the coffee is under extracted and burnt.

Danielle - Ouch! I think your phone has seen better days Ben!

Susan Carlson - No worries. We have a very nice French Press now. Should get a better thermos.

Trusting you to bring the Burundi beans.

Mary - Silly question, but does French pressed coffee taste a lot better than drip coffee? Thanks for the tutorial! As usual, the photography rocks!

Eric Holst - The preheating of the thermos and cups is a crucial step that many people don’t think about. Nice work on hitting all of the details! You guys continue to rock it over there.

Brew Guide: Chemex

It’s a thing of beauty. So beautiful in fact, that over 70 years ago it was added to the collection by the Museum of Modern Art. It can also be found in the Smithsonian and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. A science experiment and a piece of art all at once, the Chemex is a type of pour over drip…

longmilescoffee - Bernadette, that sounds amazing!

bernadette - this is my coffee treat (brewed via chemex method) at the farmers market….i add organic heavy cream and then get a fresh baked cinnamon cake donut!!! very zen!!

Lou Pignolet - I love your website with the great story of your adventure and all the wonderful images. I love coffee and appreciate your detailed description of the chemex brewing method. This is the best description of this I have seen any where. There are all these coffee websites selling single origin coffee and they never go over the details of extraction, which is so important. I would love to buy some Burundi coffee beans. I live near Grand Marais Minnesota and met some local guys starting a coffee roasting operation and that is how I learned of your site. How can one make a donation to help the longmilescoffeeproject directly?

Caren - hello! I wish I had come across this fabulous (and pretty!) Chemex tutorial ages ago; *so* helpful! I am going to tweak my Chemexing accordingly.
On another note, I am getting lost in the pages of this beautiful Burundi bloggy space you have created. I am learning something new with every post I read & every photo I see.

Alex & Kath - Hi Guys
A friend of mine (Jess Scott) recommended I check out your work.
Very interesting! Just wanted to say how impressed I am with the photos…that’s some serious photography!

Anyways, we’re travelling through Africa and thought we’d say hi.

I hear Burundi is dangerous at the moment but everyone has an opinion. (Might visit if it’s safe)

We are in Tanzania and then off to Rwanda (which I hear has some of the best coffee in the world…)

Keep up the good work!

Alex & Kath
